Festival of Sacred Music – January 25-26, 2020

Over 300 people attended the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of the American Guild of Organists’ presentation of a Festival of Sacred Music Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2020. The musical forces of a 163 voice choir, Sarasota Orchestra Brass quintet, timpani, organ and piano were led by clinician Tom Trenney and accompanied by Michael Stuart on organ and piano.

Music filled the sanctuary of First Church, especially when the attendees joined in the singing. Tom led a musical and spiritual weekend for the singers and helped everyone step outside their usual church experience with a community sing. Comments from all corners described the afternoon as a ‘mountain top’ experience. After all the singing, Tom topped off the afternoon with an exhilarating improvisation on the organ.
