The University of Kansas, School of Music, Division of Organ and Church Music is delighted to announce the first in a series of conferences on French organ music. Our initial conference in this series is entitled:
Le Grand Siècle: Organ Music and Culture in 17th and 18th Century France
These conferences will be centered around the teaching of Olivier Latry, the new William T. Kemper Artist-in-Residence at the University of Kansas, in conjunction with lectures and performances by resident and guest conference faculty.
This conference will occur on November 8th and 9th, 2019. Olivier Lartry will present a lecture on the French Classic organ as well as master classes covering all of the major genres and composers of French classic organ music.
Additional lecturers include Michael Bauer, Paul Laird, Areli Marina, and Colin Roust. University of Kansas students will present a concert version of an alternatim Mass featuring the music of Louis Marchand and chant sung in seventeenth-century French style by members of the Bales Chorale.
